1st International Conference - Last Focus Visual Research Network
Following the impetus of visual research methods in Social Sciences, the association Last Focus Visual Research Network organizes the conference LFVRN 2015 « Visual Ethnography: Tools, Archives and Research Methods ». The first meeting will take place in Paris at the Bâtiment France de l’EHESS November 9 and 10 sponsored by l’Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales (EHESS), le SRIE de l’Université Sorbonne Nouvelle, le Campus Condorcet, l’Institut des Amériques, l’ED 267 Arts et Media de l’U. Sorbonne Nouvelle, le Labex TransferS, le LAHIC and l’Institut Interdisciplinaire d’Anthropologie du Contemporain (IIAC).
This conference aims to cross-examine the use of (audio)visual techniques when doing research in Social Sciences. The use of these materials as an object of study or as an investigative tool is now an important part of the scientific production process. Which theoretical and methodological tools can we use in order to study Social Sciences within a “visual frame”? How are visual methods employed during research?
